Columbus, OH (September 12, 2025) – A crash on the southeast side of Columbus closed a major portion of Interstate 70 on Wednesday afternoon, September 10.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:15 p.m. near James Road and involved a yellow tanker truck. According to police dispatchers, the tanker was the only vehicle involved in the crash. Emergency crews from the Columbus Division of Fire responded to the scene.
The crash resulted in the closure of all lanes on eastbound I-70 beyond James Road, as well as two lanes on westbound I-70. Traffic was severely impacted as crews worked to clear the scene.
One person was transported to Grant Medical Centre in stable condition. The cause of the crash has not been disclosed, and authorities are still investigating.
