
IndIndianapolis, IN – Fatal Wrong-Way Crash on I-70 EB Near Holt Rd


Indianapolis, IN (July 8, 2025) – A fatal head-on crash involving a wrong-way driver occurred early Monday morning, July 7, on Interstate 70 East near downtown Indianapolis.
The collision happened around 5:00 a.m. between Holt Road and Tibbs Avenue, near mile marker 76.7. According to Indiana State Police, multiple 911 callers reported a vehicle traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-70. Shortly after those reports, the wrong-way driver crashed head-on into another vehicle near mile marker 77.
The Marion County Coroner’s Office identified the person who died as 20-year-old Bryce Day. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the second vehicle suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Their condition has not been released.
The Indiana Department of Transportation confirmed that the crash involved two vehicles. The interstate remained closed for more than three hours while police conducted a crash reconstruction and cleared the scene.
