Jct City, KS – Two Hurt in Wreck on I-70 near K-177 Jct

Junction City, KS (July 27, 2025) – A two-vehicle crash on Thursday afternoon, July 24, along eastbound Interstate 70 near the K-177 junction left two people injured and hospitalized. The Kansas Highway Patrol confirmed that wet roadway conditions played a significant role in the incident.

The crash involved a 2024 Tesla driven by 73-year-old Terry Roehr of Colorado Springs, who lost control while merging onto the interstate from the eastbound K-177 on-ramp. The Tesla hydroplaned, spun out, and struck a pickup truck traveling in the same direction. The second vehicle was being driven by 16-year-old Sawyer Ibarra of Alma.

Both drivers were injured in the crash and were taken to Ascension Via Christi in Manhattan for further medical treatment. Authorities noted that seat belts were in use at the time of the collision.

Emergency crews quickly responded to the scene, securing the area and working to remove the vehicles from the roadway. The incident remains under active investigation as officials work to identify any other contributing factors. We wish both individuals a full and speedy recovery.
