Montgomery, MO (July 31, 2025) – A collision occurred on Westbound I-70 at mile marker 166.8 at 10:19 a.m. on July 29, involving two vehicles, a 2018 Freightliner Cascadia and a 2014 Peterbilt 389. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Freightliner, driven by a 48-year-old male from Covington, GA, was traveling at a slow rate of speed in the driving lane when it was struck from behind by the Peterbilt.

The impact caused extensive damage to the Freightliner, while the Peterbilt suffered total damage. The driver of the Freightliner was transported to University Hospital with minor injuries, while the 72-year-old driver of the Peterbilt, from Capon Bridge, WV, sustained serious injuries and was also transported to University Hospital.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Skyline Towing, and multiple law enforcement officers, including the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department, assisted in the investigation. Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
