St. Louis, MO – Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-70 Leaves 1 Injured, Hit-and-Run Driver Sought

St. Louis, MO (August 18, 2025) – A multi-vehicle collision on eastbound Interstate 70 left one man injured on Friday evening, August 15, and prompted a search for a driver who fled the scene.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the crash occurred around 6:27 p.m. just west of Jennings Station Road. Investigators said four vehicles were involved, including an unknown vehicle that left the scene before authorities arrived.

According to the crash report, the chain reaction began when the unknown vehicle shifted from lane 2 into lane 3, striking a 2016 Mercedes AMG. The Mercedes then skidded and crashed into a 2015 Honda Fit, which was pushed into a 2023 GMC Terrain.

The GMC’s driver, a 56-year-old St. Louis man, suffered moderate injuries. Emergency responders transported him to Barnes-Jewish Hospital for treatment. The drivers of the Mercedes and Honda were not reported injured, though both vehicles sustained extensive damage.

Authorities confirmed the unknown vehicle responsible for the initial impact fled eastbound on I-70. Troopers continue to investigate and are searching for the hit-and-run driver.

Our thoughts are with the injured man, and we wish him a full recovery. The investigation into this multi-vehicle crash is ongoing.

Hit-and-Run Crashes in St. Louis

Hit-and-run accidents are a serious problem in St. Louis and across Missouri. When drivers flee the scene, they not only violate state law but also leave victims without immediate accountability. According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, hit-and-run incidents are increasing statewide, often complicating the recovery process for injured victims.

Victims of these crashes can face medical bills, lost income, and long-term rehabilitation needs. In cases like the I-70 collision, when a fleeing driver cannot be located immediately, victims may turn to uninsured motorist coverage for help with expenses. However, dealing with insurance providers is rarely simple, and victims often benefit from legal guidance to ensure they receive fair compensation.

Personal injury attorneys can play an essential role in hit-and-run cases. They can work with law enforcement to identify the fleeing driver, investigate liability, and pursue claims against available insurance policies. Even when the at-fault driver is not caught, legal options remain available for those harmed.

The I-70 crash west of Jennings Station Road underscores the dangers of reckless driving and the devastating consequences of fleeing a crash scene. For victims, support and resources are available to help them through recovery and hold negligent parties accountable.
