Summit Co., CO – Fatal Semi-Truck Crash on I-70/Eisenhower Tunnel

Summit County, CO (October 12, 2025) – At least one person was killed in a semi-truck crash on Interstate 70 early Sunday morning, October 12. The Colorado Department of Transportation reported that the accident happened just before 5:45 a.m. on the west side of the Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnel. According to the Colorado State Patrol, multiple lanes were shut down following the crash as investigators documented the scene and crews cleared debris. It remains unclear whether other vehicles were involved, and the number of potential injuries has not yet been confirmed. The identity of the deceased victim has not been released pending family notification. The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Traffic in the area was heavily impacted for several hours.
