Boone Co, MO (August 20, 2025) – A two-vehicle crash on Interstate 70 eastbound left two people injured on Sunday evening, August 17.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 6:13 p.m. near mile marker 122. Troopers reported that a 2005 Toyota Matrix, driven by a 31-year-old woman from Kansas City, experienced an equipment failure. The vehicle veered off the left side of the interstate and overturned.
Debris from the crash struck a 2022 Freightliner Cascadia, driven by a 30-year-old man from Columbus, OH, and a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 43-year-old man from Columbia. Both trucks sustained minor damage and were able to be driven from the scene.
The driver of the Toyota and a 20-year-old female passenger, also from Kansas City, suffered minor injuries. Both were transported by ambulance to University Hospital for treatment.
The Freightliner and Silverado drivers were not hurt.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol, Boone County Sheriff’s Office, and local emergency crews assisted at the scene.
