Boone Co., MO – Fatal Collision on I-40 near I-70

Boone County, MO (July 26, 2025) – A devastating crash that followed a police pursuit claimed the life of a 42-year-old woman on July 24 on the US 40 ramp connecting to eastbound Interstate 70.
The incident occurred around 9:35 a.m. and involved a compact 2006 Toyota Scion XB and a commercial 2005 Kenworth W900 semi-truck. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the driver of the Scion, a woman from Lonoke, AR, was attempting to evade law enforcement when she lost control of her vehicle.
Investigators say the Scion veered off the left side of the ramp, became airborne, and then re-entered the eastbound lanes of I-70—ultimately striking the right side of the semi-truck.
Tragically, the woman was not wearing a seatbelt and suffered fatal injuries as a result of the impact. Emergency personnel transported her to University Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased at 10:30 a.m. Her remains were later transferred to the Boone County Medical Examiner’s Office. The Scion was completely destroyed and removed from the scene by I-70 Towing.
The semi-truck driver, a 64-year-old man from Festus, MO, was unharmed and had been properly restrained at the time of the crash. His vehicle sustained moderate damage and was also towed.
Troop F officials confirmed this marks their second fatal crash in July and the 21st traffic-related fatality in their jurisdiction so far this year. The investigation remains ongoing, with no further information currently available regarding the initial pursuit.
Our deepest condolences go out to the loved ones of the deceased woman during this time of profound loss.
