Montrose, IL – Semi-Truck Crash Causes Injuries on I-70 near I-57 Split

Montrose, IL (July 25, 2025) – A serious overnight collision involving a semi-truck and a passenger vehicle shut down all lanes of Interstate 70 just west of Montrose late Thursday night, July 24, resulting in multiple injuries and significant travel disruption, according to the Illinois State Police.

The crash occurred at approximately 11:48 p.m., about a mile west of Montrose, and triggered a full closure of the interstate that lasted until nearly 8:40 a.m. Friday morning. Traffic was rerouted at the I-70/I-57 split as crews worked through the night to investigate the scene and clear the wreckage.

Emergency responders, including paramedics, arrived swiftly and provided medical care to the injured at the scene.
