Dayton, OH – Two-Semi Crash on I-70 WB Sends Two to Hospital

Dayton, OH (September 6, 2025) – A serious crash involving two semi-trucks occurred Thursday evening, September 4, on westbound Interstate 70 near State Route 4 in Dayton.

The collision happened around 5 p.m., blocking all westbound lanes and causing significant delays. One semi was parked on the shoulder of the highway with its hazards on when another semi drove off the road and rear-ended it. The crash caused extensive damage to both vehicles, with one semi carrying oil that spilled onto the road along with debris.

Emergency responders arrived quickly, including fire, police, and medical teams. A medical helicopter was called to the scene around 5:35 p.m. Both drivers were transported to the hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries. Authorities are working to clear the wreckage and address the oil spill.

Traffic was diverted off I-70 westbound via the Enon Road exit, and as of 8:30 p.m., some vehicles were allowed through, though most were still rerouted while cleanup continued. The highway remained closed as crews worked to remove the trucks and clear the oil spill, with sand being brought in to assist with the cleanup.

We wish those hurt a rapid recovery.
