Geary Co., KS – Two-Car Accident with Injuries on I-70 near K-177

Geary County, KS (July 20, 2025) — A two-vehicle collision on Friday afternoon, July 18, in Geary County left one person injured, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred around 3:35 p.m., when a 2024 Ram 2500 exited Interstate 70 and attempted to cross K-177 in an effort to assist with a separate crash. During the maneuver, the Ram reportedly did not yield at a stop sign and was struck by a 2019 Cadillac XT4 traveling on K-177.

Emergency crews, including medics and law enforcement, responded quickly to the scene. The driver of the Cadillac, identified as 33-year-old Ashley Taitano of Manhattan, was transported to Ascension Via Christi Hospital for treatment. The driver of the Ram truck was not hurt.

The Kansas Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
