Motorcycle Accidents in Golden, Colorado
Motorcycle crashes in Golden and across Colorado often lead to severe injuries or tragic losses, as motorcycles offer little protection in collisions. According to the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), motorcyclists make up a disproportionate number of traffic fatalities each year despite representing a smaller percentage of registered vehicles. In fact, motorcycle riders accounted for about 20% of all traffic deaths in Colorado in recent years, even though they represent just 3% of roadway users.
Interstate 70 is a major corridor through the Denver metro area and the foothills, which sees high volumes of commuter and tourist traffic. This heavy traffic—combined with speeding vehicles, distracted drivers, and sudden lane changes—creates dangerous conditions for riders. Accidents like the one near the Youngfield exit often involve multiple vehicles and can quickly become deadly.
When a motorcycle crash involves multiple parties, like a bus or a vehicle that flees the scene, identifying fault can become complex. Investigators must determine if the rider was struck due to another driver’s negligence, a mechanical failure, or unsafe road conditions. In such cases, victims or their families may benefit from working with a personal injury attorney to pursue compensation for medical bills, lost income, pain and suffering, or funeral expenses.
In fatal accidents, wrongful death claims can help families seek justice and financial relief. Attorneys can also help track down hit-and-run drivers, gather witness statements, and work with crash reconstruction experts to build a strong case.
