Jackson Co, MO – Injury Accident on I-70 WB West of Rte AA/BB

Jackson County, MO (February 6, 2026) – Two people were hurt after a multi-vehicle crash on westbound Interstate 70 in Jackson County during the morning commute on Tuesday, February 4. The crash happened around 8:42 a.m. on I-70 westbound, just west of Route AA/BB.

Missouri State Highway Patrol records indicate that three vehicles were traveling westbound at the time of the crash. A 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 struck the rear of a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox. After the impact, the Equinox was pushed forward and hit the back of a 2016 Volvo VNL.

Emergency crews responded and focused on the injured drivers from the first two vehicles. The Dodge Ram suffered extensive damage and had to be towed from the scene. The Chevrolet Equinox sustained severe damage and was also removed by tow truck. The Volvo tractor-trailer showed no reported damage and was able to leave the area.

Paramedics treated a 27-year-old man from Coffeyville, Kansas, who had been driving the Dodge Ram. His injuries were described as minor, and he was taken to Truman Medical Center for further care. Medical crews also assisted a 49-year-old man from Lee’s Summit who had been driving the Chevrolet Equinox. He suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Centerpoint Medical Center.

Both injured drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. A 27-year-old man from Kearney was driving the Volvo and did not report injuries.

Drivers traveling through the area may have seen emergency vehicles and law enforcement in the westbound lanes as crews provided medical care and removed vehicles. Assistance at the scene also came from local police.
