Thompson Springs, UT – Fatal Semi-Truck Crash on I-70 Near Crescent Jct

Thompson Springs, UT (July 9, 2025) – A semi-truck driver died Sunday evening, July 7,  following a two-truck collision on eastbound I-70 near the Crescent Jct rest stop.

According to the Utah Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 8:15 p.m. Authorities said one semi exited toward a scenic view area, then re-entered I-70 by crossing the gore area. A second semi traveling eastbound struck the rear trailer of the first truck.

The impact destroyed the trailer, which was loaded with blueberries, and caused both trucks to block the eastbound lanes of the highway. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and pronounced the driver of the second semi deceased. That driver’s identity has not been released.

The co-drivers of the first semi were not injured. Officials stated that the Grand County Attorney’s Office will review the case for possible charges.
