Accidents Involving Large Trucks in Missouri
Accidents involving large trucks, like the Peterbilt in this crash, can be particularly dangerous due to the sheer size and weight of commercial vehicles. In this incident on I-70, the driver of the Chevrolet Equinox was injured after impacting the towed unit of the truck while it was merging onto the highway.
Missouri, with its extensive interstate system, sees numerous truck accidents every year, particularly on busy highways like I-70. These types of accidents can result in severe damage to smaller vehicles and serious injuries to their drivers and passengers. Some common causes of truck accidents include:
- Merging Issues: When large trucks merge onto highways, they may not always be visible to smaller vehicles, increasing the risk of collisions.
- Driver Fatigue: Long hours on the road can cause truck drivers to become fatigued, reducing their reaction time and awareness.
- Weather Conditions: Rain, fog, or snow can impair visibility and road traction, making it difficult for large trucks to stop or avoid collisions.
- Improper Lane Changes: If truck drivers fail to signal or check their blind spots before changing lanes, they may inadvertently cause accidents with nearby vehicles.
If you are involved in a truck-related accident, it’s important to seek immediate medical attention, as injuries can worsen over time. Additionally, contacting a personal injury attorney can help ensure you receive compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
An attorney can guide you through the process of filing a claim, negotiating with insurance companies, and, if necessary, taking legal action to secure the compensation you deserve. Legal representation can also help you navigate the complex regulations surrounding truck accidents and ensure that you are not taken advantage of during the claims process.
